Creating Christmas Cards

It's definately TIME to create Christmas cards-- I'm determined to actually send some out this year, so have been playing around with different stamps and ideas whenever I get a chance! Here's a couple I've created this week.
The Partridge in a Pear Tree image is by A Stamp in the Hand and is one I picked up last year but never stamped, I had fun inking it up with my markers last night and experimenting with colours :)
The poinsettia is by Artful Stamper and is one that is designed to be layered. I made a sample and, well... now I'm in love with it, so there is one less on the shelf :) I gold embossed it three times on ivory cardstock and painted it up with a couple shades of Twinkling H20's. My glitter glue is still drying, so I wasn't able to scan it, but I think the photo shows it off pretty good anyways!
I look forward to seeing some of YOUR Christmas cards this year in our Christmas Card Contest! There is still lots of time to enter, cards are due Dec. 9. If I haven't already posted full details, I'll do that in the next couple of days.
Have a creative day!

Fantasy Keepsake Box

I was going through a recent issue of Paper Trends magazine yesterday and came across an adorable project I just had to try. The magazine linked to a website address with full instructions which I thought I'd share with you! The Fantasy Keepsake Box is small, but packs some punch! It stands just over 5" tall and opens up to reveal 4 tiny boxes, which I have filled up with a small stamp, ink & some embellishments! It would also be a great gift box for small jewelry items. If the instructions are a bit much for you, just let us know... we've already had requests for a class on this box so will probably schedule one soon :) I hope you'll have fun with this little weekend project!

A Cool Day

Every time I go outside it feels a little bit cooler... and I hear tomorrow it will near -30 degrees! In my opinion, it's perfect weather to spend time inside creating (or shopping for things to create with)! I put together this cute little tag with my new penguin QK die & some Basic Grey papers this afternoon- it seemed appropriate :)

I haven't had a chance to look through yet, but the winter issue of Canadian Scrapbooker arrived today! It looks like a great issue, I spotted some cute mini books, awesome winter (& hockey) layouts and fun Christmas pages! Lots of inspiration in this Canadian magazine! Stop by and get yours while you can! Christmas magazines & idea books have been flying off the shelves lately!

QK Sale

Ooops... I forgot to mention our current QuicKutz sale! We've got a selection of dies that are still in the 'old' blue packaging that we pulled off the shelf to make room for all the new winter & Christmas dies... so we're offering one FREE with the purchase of any two dies while supplies last! It's a great deal and a good way to pick up some stocking stuff for the QK lover on your Christmas list! Since I'm back... thought I'd post a cute sample from the QuicKutz site... this one brought a big smile! Can't wait to 'lift' it!

Boxes bring smiles!

I wonder if you've noticed how much we love QucKutz here? It really is one of those things that makes us smile, I just love the results when I use it on my projects! Today brought another shipment from QuicKutz, which brings smiles to us with the fun new winter shapes (my personal fave's are the penguin & the coffee mug!) which are just so fabulous as we're facing another Canadian winter! I just know people are gonna love the hockey stick, skis, skates, touque & parka as well. There's tons of awesome samples on the QK website, which I'm sure will inspire you! We have just 3 QuicKutz tools in stock right now, and they're going fast! If you've got one on your wish list, you may want to pass that news on :)

Another box that came today held the new Photo-opoly game I mentioned a bit ago! It comes complete with all the usual 'monopoly' stuff plus templates & instructions for sizing your photos for each 'property', pre-printed & blank captions for the photos and a permanent marker & a glue pen for putting it all together! I'm putting one together for a Christmas gift- my first step is to pick 22 photos! This is a project that can be done either high or low-tech, which is great as it means anyone can put it together!

huge circles...

I thought I'd post a public reply to a comment from Cindy on my "spinning 'round" layout! I used the fabulous new Curvy Cutter system by EK Success for the big circles on my page! This new tool cuts around 40 different sizes of circles, from 2 1/4" up to ... well, I'm not sure how large! (My cutting mat is 14" square, and it would go larger than that!) We were able to cut circles that were about 11.5" from some Christmas papers to make fun 'ornaments' for our store window! It's very easy to use, and has guides for precise measuring up to 7.5" inches. We'd love to show you how it works next time you stop by the store!

This set was previously released 'exclusively' on QVC and is now available to stores in Canada. I'm been dying to get my hands on the 'blossom' mini alphabet, in particular! Photo-opoly Game

This game was advertised in the current issue of Creating Keepsakes and it just called to me that it would be a great Christmas gift! My family plays a lot of games when we get together, and this would be a brilliant merger between games and scrapbooking. It's a totally customizable 'monopoly' type game, which you add your own photos & captions to! We're still waiting for information about getting it in to our store, but I'm hoping it'll be soon! We would love to take some pre-orders, though, so we can be sure to get enough copies in! Please e-mail us or post a comment here on the blog if you'd like to reserve one for yourself!

Do ya journal?

I get e-mail newsletters from all over the place. Sometimes it's information overload and other times it's just great! This link to a Journalling Style Quiz that came today is a pretty fun one! It's nice and short, but gives some great ideas for journalling that will hopefully inspire you when you're working on your scrapbook pages! I know lots of us struggle with what & how to journal when we're working on layouts, and it's easy to ignore it or put it off... but it's SO important to add those details that really will tell your story when people look through your album years from now! So... here's my challenge to you-- grab a layout you've already completed and add those details to it! I promise you, it's gonna feel really good!

Christmas card snipets

Here's a couple snipits of some of the Quick Creative Christmas cards we'll be doing in our class this Wednesday night! The class is just $15 and you'll leave with 4 cards you can easily adapt and duplicate to make some fast & unique cards this holiday season! Call or email to register for the class!

Stamp of the Month

I've just finally uploaded the last few months of card samples for our SOTM program-- if you're a member of our yahoo group, you can view them by clicking the link on the title of this post! If you're not a yahoo group member, you're welcome to join our group/mailing list by following the instructions it takes you to :) The image here shows our current SOTM, a flurry of snowflakes by Stampendous. I had a bit of a crisis with this one as it isn't the stamp I ordered (gotta hate typos!) but the folks at Stampendous did a smashing job with the sample board-- I think you'll find this to be a very versatile stamp! We do (or did) actually have all the other stamps shown on this sample in stock as well-- plus a bunch of other great images for Christmas cards! So much fun!
