news...

Wow... what a response to the blog candy! Just wanted to update y'all that we will make the draw on Friday, March 2! Best of luck to all of you!

Lots of you mentioned Stamping Bella in your wish list so I just had to share the news that we will be placing a wholesale order with them shortly and carrying these pretties in the store! If you already have some of these, I'd love to hear what your first one was, it can be hard to narrow down the choices when we place our orders :) If you've never seen or heard of them before, check em out HERE! They're unmounted, they're Canadian and they're adorable-- I can't wait to play with some!

fresh inspiration in store...

Check out what our wonderful mail folks brought us today... fresh inspiration in the form of fabulous books & magazines! New issues of Scrapbook Trends, Cards, Take 10, Canadian Scrapbooker & a special issue by Scrapbook Trends called "Journalling your Stories" They all look fabulous... how will I choose which one to take home with me tonight?

QuicKutz Challenge

We've had a few entries brought in for our QuicKutz challenge already... but we're hoping to see several more brought in the next few days! Our initial deadline was Feb 28, but we'll be flexible if you have it here by Friday :) Bring us any card, layout or project that uses ANY QK dies and your name will be entered in a draw for a fun prize package (more of those goodies from our bag of treats...). We like to display the layouts for at least a couple of weeks, but you're free to take your project home anytime after mid March. Don't be shy-- this is not a contest, just a fun draw to get people trying new things!

Blog Candy!

We reached 3500 hits on our blog this past weekend and decided to celebrate with a little blog candy... so YOU could win some fun items from our goodie bag at the retailers workshop last weekend! We'll draw from the responses to THIS post & one lucky person will win this selection of PINK blog candy! There's acryllic stamps by Heidi Swapp & MSE plus assorted embellishments & paper pieces!

In order to win... please tell us in your post: Your favourite scrapping or stamping item you purchased in February AND one item you have on your wish list (maybe something new from CHA?) If you post anonymously, please include your first name & e-mail address in your post!

We look forward to hearing from lots of you :) The bigger the response, the sooner we'll have a giveaway like this again!

a scrappin' good time...

... was had by all at our midnight crop last night! I even managed to get a few layouts done (with a great deal of help from Becky Fleck's Page Maps). I'm excited because I created a layout (girlfriends) with NEW Basic Grey Perhaps papers and another one with COMING SOON papers by My Minds Eye- the cowgirl line from their "Signature Life" collection. I think this is my favourite of all the papers we ordered from them... but they were all gorgeous, so I reserve the right to change my mind on that! My "better in the country" layout (which is also my very first ROUND layout-thanks to PageMaps for the inspiration!) also uses another coming soon product... Bazzill Bling Blossoms! You have to see these to understand how gorgeous they are-- they're like crushed velvet, and of course they match the bling cardstock! Lovely new products, which should be in the store sometime in March! Can't wait!

New Papers!

Rena was busy re-organizing things while we were away... making room for new papers by Basic Grey! They're on the shelves NOW, as well as fun new "SuperStar" papers by Autumn Leaves- these papers are fun, trendy & perfect for boys of all ages! Enjoy this little sneak peek, but don't stay away too long... they're selling fast!

we're back!

We had a fantastic time in Edmonton at our Retailers Education event-- we took 6 classes (including one with Becky Higgins, so we had to get our picture taken with her!) and did 11 different make & take projects with different suppliers! We're unpacking our goodie bags & getting things organized to show off all the samples we brought back at our midnight crop on Friday! (We've heard back from several people who will be joining us, and we'd love to have even more! We'll bring in more tables & chairs if more of you are interested!) We're excited about all the projects we completed and the new goodies we ordered... so many fun products that will be arriving in the next weeks & months! It looks like some of the first to come will be... Heidi Swapp's new stamps, ribbons (30!), acetate & masks as well as brand new Cosmo Cricket papers from their Dutch Girl & Halfway Cafe lines! We ordered adorable new brads from Around the Block & their fabulous new label maker tool and are also expecting a new line of travel papers from Pebbles. We ordered LOTS of other products as well, most of which we can expect to arrive through March & April. You'll hear more about them soon! There's lots more I'd like to share, but we are still busy completing orders & finding our table... :)

...and we're off!

Mom & I are on our way to Edmonton early Friday morning! We're looking forward to taking classes and workshops on Saturday and Sunday including classes & make n' take projects with Becky Higgins, Bazzill Basics, Cloud 9, Cosmo Cricket, Making Memories, Creative Imaginations, Heidi Swapp... and more! We'll be back at the store on Tuesday (Rena & Tracey will be here to help you out while we're away!) and will prepare to show you new products & samples at our Midnight Crop next Friday, Feb 23! Let us know if you'll be able to make it! {If you come by Tuesday, you'll also find NEW BASIC GREY products available for purchase! Woohoo!} I'm sure we'll have lots to update about when we return!

One of the classes we're taking required us to bring a photo of ourself... so Laureen Carruthers of Pixels Photography was kind enough to do a quick photo shoot with us the other night! Here's a pic she took of the two of us together :) I can't wait to have a chance to scrapbook it and some of the others!

Basic Grey Precision Cutting Mat

I was online yesterday and saw a list of features the new magnetic cutting mat by Basic Grey has... it totally made me want one for myself, but I thought I'd post them here for now, since we have a couple of these in stock at the store!

1 - The mat is magnetic - as is the ruler - so that you have reinforcement when making your cuts and your ruler and knife won't slip which gives you great PRECISION cutting. To add EXTRA re-inforcement, there are 8 magnetic tacks that are UBER strong so they can hold virtually anything in place (including our extra thick chipboard).

2 - It's measurements go beyond the 12" mark so that you can lay an entire sheet of 12x12" paper down and still see where to cut precisely.

3 - It has measurements to an 1/8" on all sides clearly marked.

4 - It's self-healing which means you can cut and cut over and over in the same place and never have any resistance to your craft blade because of an irregularity (that you sometimes get with a piece of glass) which is perfect for the funky waves that are so popular as well as the fussy cutting details.

5 - Because it's magnetic, you can build an entire layout on top of it (with the help of the tacks) and NEVER have to commit anything to glue until you have it the way you want it. (WAY cool for an indecisive chick like me!)

6 - Again because it's magnetic, you can keep said layout on the mat and hang it up in your scrap room or put it away in a cabinet if you have to clean up quickly (or don't have a designated scrap space) and when you get it back out, it's exactly as you left it.

7 - It is perfect to do all the fine detail and fussy cut titles that really can set off a layout.

8 - It is 15x15" total size!

Thanks to Kelly Goree (designer for Basic Grey) for pointing out all these awesome features! Check out some of her awesome BG layouts on 2 peas in a bucket!

QuicKutz Valentines

I spent a bit of time playing with QuicKutz yesterday and made these 2 valentine cards, aren't they cute? I think the "I Like you" card (with Hero Arts stamps) has a wonderful, masculine feel to it! I stamped the message with StazOn ink into masking tape as a fun title.

Oooh... in other news, we got a new shipment of QK in today! We've got QuickStripz back in stock as well as the new spring shapes (grass, bunny, kite, carrot, raindrops, mailbox...) and the new grand flourish dies!

Valentines for the Single Gal

Now I *know* I'm not the only single gal who would love to get something (anything!) from a friend at Valentines day... so I designed these cards for a class (by this name), which is scheduled tomorrow. As of now, I don't have anyone registered, BUT I will be here making these cards regardless, as I have friends I want to give them to. So, if you held off registering and decide you'd like to join me, come see me at 1pm on Saturday to make these 2 cards (plus one more).

{[by the way, both have witty punchlines inside them! The third card is a *bit* more "traditional"}

Winter Scrap & Cards Kit

Our new Scrap & Card Kit is now available! For just $15 you get to try out $20 worth of products-- including materials which are NOT available seperately in our store! This kit features papers & brads by Around the Block and embellishments by Heidi Swapp. This kit is a fun way to try partial packs of some fun products-- get 'em while you can! (We encourage people to sign up in advance for next month's kit so we can better judge how many we should put together!)

February Page Maps

I just thought I'd post the link for the new February Page maps-- these sketches are a great way to get you started on a layout or card, and this month she's added some tag maps, how fun! This is a web site you'll want to bookmark and visit each month, we print off the pdf's each month and keep them in a duotang for handy reference! Enjoy! Page Maps

{Valentines} from the heart

This 'love birds' card is one of the 4 cards we made in our 'from the heart' class tonight-- it was a lot of fun! I need to re-take my photo of another one before I post it on here, but I just thought I'd share! We used the heart shaped tag-maker rim in the QuicKutz tool to flatten it-- works great! Just one more option for our QK lovin' customers!

Make & Take Projects

These are the fun make & take projects we made at the Girl Guides Fundraising Crop this weekend-- aren't they cute? YOU can stop by the store and make them too this week! There's no charge, and it's a fun opportunity to try out some new things! The 'snow much fun' project uses QuicKutz die cuts with Around the Block papers, the 'my heart flips for you' project uses stamps by a-muse!

Heart Throb CD Tin mini book

You could create this adorable 'Heart Throb' mini book in a CD Tin for someone who makes your heart sing this Valentine's Day! We will not be doing a formal class, but you can pick up a class kit or spend some time in our class studio during the day completing this project. All the materials you need are included-- just bring some adhesive, a paper trimmer & scissors with you! If you're doing it at home, you'll need some black distress or chalk ink to finish it off.

Daily special

I wasn't able to get online to post todays CHA special last night... sorry! Instead of picking a product line, today we've picked an entire shelving unit to offer at 30% off! It's the yellow shelving unit with paper, stickers, embellishments... etc! Lots of great deals! In addition, our deal of the day is 20% off ribbon!

We're off to the Elks Hall tonight for the girl guides scrapbooking fundraiser- our store hours will remain the same (we are women who multitask!). When you stop by tomorrow through next Saturday you can enter your name in a fun give-away draw we're having! We look forward to seeing you here soon!
