Three Card Class ''for the birds"

This weeks three card class is 'for the birds' ;) We had fun putting this set of cards together using these great 'Fantastic Freeway' papers by Upsy Daisy Designs. We included a set of papers in our goodie boxes for the Fiesta and have enjoyed creating with them. They are currently in our clearance section, available for 25% off right now! The colour combination is a favorite of mine, perfect for masculine cards and I think this set is a great one as you can give these cards to almost anybody!
Our cards this week feature stamps by Hero Arts & Cornish Heritage Farms and dies by QuicKutz. You'll use both wooden & clear stamps and try paper piecing and chalking techniques! Enjoy- we hope you can join us on Thursday at either 1pm or 5:30pm! Please bring your basic class kit (supplies for cutting and gluing- I recommend some good scissors for cutting detail this week, CutterBee is my personal favorite!)

SUNDAY ONLY!

Take two stamp sets...

Take two fabulous sets of Kim Hughes stamps by Cornish Heritage Farms, mix it together with cheery 'Lime Rickey' papers by Basic Grey... add a simple layout by Sheetload of Cards and mix together to create an assortment of fun cards! (Then take some leftovers paper scraps and make even more...).
{p.s. all of this started with using up some Lime Rickey leftovers from a project I was asked to create for the June issue of PageMaps- I'll share that with you on Monday!)

I've noticed that since I got these CHF stamps, they've been my 'go to' for TONS of projects- especially the tag sentiments set! They're just the perfect size for so many cards and it's wonderful to have such a variety of sentiments to be interchangeable! Mixing these images together with Lime Rickey allowed me to really play up the COLOUR on these images, much more so than I would normally do- even to the point of making some downright ODD cards LOL. I love the 'Maisy Ketto' image by Stamping Bella on the one card, she is a blast to color with cheery papers like this because she simply looks to me like she would wear wacky colour combos!

May LONG Weekend

I know it hasn't been long since the last one, but I'm feeling very READY for a long weekend! We're heading out of town for a family get together, but Tanya will be here on Saturday to help you get your fix ;)

We're celebrating my grandma's upcoming 80th birthday, so I thought I'd share the card I made for her as well as the card I made Mom for Mother's Day, since they use the same materials :)

The patterned paper is Basic Grey "Wisteria" collection, cardstock is Bazzill Bling (and Core'dinations Whitewash for grandma's card) and I've added silk ribbons on both. Mom's has assorted flowers & bling by Prima (the large one is colored with Tattered Angels glimmer mist- the color match is better in person!) and Grandma's has some of the new Basic Grey BLING-isn't it pretty! If Mom's card looks familiar, it's cuz I used the layout from our 'fancy fold' class at the Fiesta as my basis for it! I discovered the the inner flap is the perfect size for a little gift card pocket, too :)
Hope you enjoyed my cards- and that you have a fantastic long weekend! Happy Victoria Day!

p.s. for those of you wanting to leave a comment (I know you're out there LOL) you just have to click on the thingie at the bottom of this post that says "# comments" and go from there! and guess what- it works on ALL my posts, but if you do it on the 'share the love' post, you'll get a free entry to the QK sweepstakes!

QK 2009 Spring Gift Sets: Reuse

This set was at the top of the list to add to our collection... I love how basic the font is (it'll go with everything) and I'm just crazy about the assortment of leaves & trees in this set- it rocks! There's also an assortment of 'green' type images, like a compost bin which doubles as a planter and assorted cans & bottles... enjoy this sampling of projects the QK design time put together- and check out a pile more on the QK website, they've been busy!

QK 2009 Spring Gift Sets: Flirt

I love the font from the new FLIRT gift set and all the fabulous, feminine shapes that come with it (and the pink & brown free tote that comes with it... stinkin' cute!). Here's a sampling of projects from the QuicKutz blog... including one that shows you don't have to have girls to make use of this fantastic gift set!

QK 2009 Spring Gift Sets: Relax & Enjoy

Here's a few samples from the QK website, featuring two of the new gift sets: Relax & Enjoy. These two gift sets are now SOLD OUT in our store, but this year we are able to re-order. If you'd like either of these gift sets, ask us about our payment plan (your order and first payment must be placed by this Friday- the sets will be available in July). These sets are a fantastic value, and have so many creative options!

May 2009 SOTM

Introducing our Stamp of the Month for May 2009! This month's stamp is actually a pair of images- both the greeting and the tall toadstools from Cornish Heritage Farms (a combo they featured as their SOTM a couple months ago) are mounted on cling foam and they stamp beautifully! Cornish Heritage Farms is a new company in our store, and we're celebrating it's arrival with a promo... when you purchase any stamp or stamp set by CHF, you can enter to win a package of 3 discontinued stamp sets! We'll do the draw next weekend and announce the winners a week from today (If you receive our SOTM via mail order, please e-mail us if you'd like to be entered in the draw!)
I die cut the new adhesive backed cork from QuicKutz for this card, and for the title on our sample board. It cuts beautifully and makes a great surface to stamp on, perfect for the masculine feel of these stamps (I'm not sure how masculine the purple is... but it just sorta worked for our sample board)!
Tanya created this one using one of the new contact card dies from QuicKutz- I love the extra toadstool along the side and the combo of ribbons to make this unique Father's Day card.
I used the QK adhesive backed cork again on this card... this time for the greeting stamp! I was thrilled that the brand new Wisteria papers from Basic Grey worked so well with the images- we don't often get a chance to play with new products while they're still really new ;) My toadstools were coloured with copic markers, and the top of the large toadstools was paper-pieced with some scraps of paper I had laying around... I think they're from an old Cosmo Cricket paper!
Mom put together this little cutie- don't you love the polkadot paper piecing? Such a fun touch!

Let us know what you think of our samples and this month's stamps- we'd love to see what you come up with using them!

Card Class & Weekly Specials

We've decided to change up our 3-card class this week and substitute the three simple cards for one fabulous mother's day card, which debuted in one of our classes at the FIESTA last weekend! Class times will be the same as other weeks- join us either at 1pm or 5:30pm on Thursday and create this 'Fun Fold' card created by Tanya! If you don't need a mother's day card, we can easily add another simple greeting to the card instead.

This card features exclusive paper from Stampington & Company, a 'sheer' tag by Maya Road, custom coloured prima flowers and more... it's a fabulous card and a fun folding technique you can create in about an hour!

We've also decided to continue the National Scrapbooking Day Celebrations a bit longer... all of our specials & sales mentioned in the previous post will continue throughout the week, while supplies last!
