Miles Eats Cake

Before we dive full force into CHRISTMAS tomorrow, I thought I'd quickly share a birthday card I made featuring Miles the Mouse from Kraftin' Kimmie. I love both these cake images, and while I originally pictured the second image on the inside of my card... I decided to make a tall (8x3.5") card and place both images on the front! My papers are by We R Memory Keepers and this card is easy on the embellishments- just some brads (our Deal of the Week, together with eyelets!) and some Distress Stickles! I also added two fabulous sentiments by Hero Arts to finish off the card- hope you like it!

Baby Gift Set

I went to a baby shower this week and needed to make a quick card! I really wanted to use something new and didn't really have time to colour up an image with my Copics, so I grabbed some Chipboard stickers- these are from Togetherness by Cosmo Cricket and they're full of sweet images perfect for something like this (there's some cute projects with it here & here)! I paired them with some patterned paper by Crate Paper and used the current Stamptacular Sunday sketch! I didn't do a lot of stamping on this, but I inked up everything and my sentiment (by Amuse) is stamped multiple places here :)
... and here's how I decorated up my gift bag to match for baby 'A' :) The colour is off here because I had to use a flash (last minute project and all... no daylight left to photograph in!)

It was fun to put together a matching set for my gift and I loved using these Chipboard pieces- I've decided it's not really cheating if I don't stamp, it's just a more 'scrappy' project *wink* Hope you like it! These sets of Chipboard stickers are on sale at the store for just $5 and we have the Togetherness 6x6 pads in stock, too! They're perfect for some quick creating!

November Sketch Challenge!

It's time for another CHALLENGE here at Creative Accents and we've got a treat for you this time around... a sketch designed by our very own Cheri (aka Graphicat).

Create any paper based project inspired by this sketch and submit it to Creative Accents in the store (where it will be featured on our creativi-tree) or on the blog (upload with the linky gadget) by Nov. 30.

This challenge is just for fun, but if we get more than 5 entries (not including our Design Team) we’ll select a random winner to receive the new 2011 Calendar from PageMaps/Scrapbook & Cards Today!

We look forward to seeing your cards, layouts and more!

I have to confess... I left my challenge project until the last minute, so I decided to go for a quick & easy-almost cheater style- card! I used the fabulous new "Merry January" papers by We R Memory Keepers and decided to take advantage of their 'crisp' design (12 great images & journaling spots ready to go on one sheet of paper) for the focal point of my cards.

Since I was already cheating, I decided to go ahead and make two cards to make up for it a little bit *wink*... especially since it was half done for me once I cut out the triangle for one of the cards! I was very excited to use this fabulous new loopy ribbon we got in this week- it's a perfect match for these papers (which I still have big plans for!) and I'm sure I'll be using it again soon!

The rest of the card is pretty self explanitory... I added some Spica glitter pen, Distress Stickles and Crackle Accents to jazz up the image a bit (though I took the picture before it had even crackled!). Here's a little close up of my snowman with a crackled nose... the rest will be crackled by the time you stop by the store to see it in person!
... and here's my second card!
While it feels a bit like cheating to me, I know that making Christmas cards can be a BIG job and if you can find ways to speed up the process and still give a handmade card, I think you're doing GREAT! Papers like these are a perfect way to save time and money while still making the effort to give something special made by you!

We hope you'll join us in this sketch challenge! Check back later to add your card, I'll have the linky gadget up soon! Take some time NOW to stop by and visit our Design Team members (listed in the left sidebar) as they've been creating with this sketch as well and I'm sure you'll LOVE what they came up with!

White Christmas!

I'm all ready for a white Christmas... even got my snow tires put on yesterday, and I think it's the first time ever that I've done that before I've seen the snow fall! It helps, of course, that we're a third of the way through November with no snow... heehee!

Last week we had a class called "White Christmas" and it was the first of our new series of Cheaper by the Dozen classes! We created 4 each of three different cards- these ones focused on all things white and wintery! I know I missed showing a peek before the class, but here they are now!

Our second Cheaper by the Dozen class will take place on Monday, Nov. 15 and the theme is Christmas on Kraft! These cards will feature traditional symbols and colors of Christmas on my favorite- kraft cardstock :) There's still room for more to join in this class- please call us at the store to reserve your spot!

Now, on to my White Christmas cards! This first one features the new Tim Holtz snowman, die cut out of sticky back canvas which has been attached to white cardstock to firm it up. I love the texture of the canvas here and the texture of Tim's snowflake embossing die as well! We added a touch of Distress Ink here and the inside features a smaller oval with some snowflakes stamped on it (also Tim Holtz) and a sentiment on the oval as well.
This next card features more Tim Holtz goodness... his fabulous snowflake edge die! I LOVE this thing- it's so pretty as an edge or as a focal point, as I've used it here. I added some Glitter Ritz to a snowflake (this one came with the snowman die) and a bit of bling and layered it over some Whitewash core'dinations cardstock. The sentiment is by Hero Arts.
This last card is my personal fave from the three... probably because I got to use kraft cardstock & the twine I love on it! I used the oval from the first card, which was dry embossed with snowflakes and layered it over a piece of Basic Grey paper (from their 'basics' line) that I white embossed snowflakes on. The sentiment is Hero Arts again and the blingy pendant is by Maya Road.
Hope you like my White cards! It was a fun challenge and it's so nice to be reminded that white does not have to look cheap or boring. Especially at Christmas, it can be very elegant when you add texture and just a hint of colour :) I'd love to know.... which card is your favorite?

Happy Birthday Eulanda!

It's our fabulously creative friend Eulanda's birthday today, and though we're not allowed to have a blog hop for her (party pooper LOL) I still wanted to post the card I made and send some virtual birthday wishes her way! Hopefully she'll get spoiled silly and feel a bit like the glamor girl I've portrayed on my card :)
My image is Annette from Kraftin' Kimmie and the Glamor Girl sentiment came with her. I've added a 'happy birthday' sentiment from Amuse (back in stock at the store!) and used BoBunny's Olivia paper collection. LOVE these papers and the warm, autumn feel they have :) I'm thrilled to use some of my other favorite new things... this sweet rose ribbon and leaf pins, both new(ish) in the store and I think both from Maya Road.

Hope your birthday is FAB, Eulanda, and is the beginning of an amazing year!

November Stamp of the Month!

We're very excited to introduce to you our November SOTM... "Warm Winter Drink" by Whipper Snapper Designs- our newest stamp company :) I confess, I fell in love when I saw this little snow-dude in a mug! As you can see from the samples below, he works fabulously with last month's coffee sentiments, but he could just as well be used with hot chocolate, tea & snowman sayings! Here's our sample board at a glance:
We had the pleasure of getting many of our Design Team members involved in making samples this month, and all of us used BoBunny's "Winter Joy" paper collection for our patterned paper!

This first card is the one I (Tara) made. I stamped & embossed my image in white on a brown cardstock, which I cut using Spellbinders dies. My snowman was also stamped on Neenah cardstock and coloured with Copics, then trimmed & mounted 3D over the brown image. The rest of the card is pretty self explanatory... lots of bling on the flourishes, sentiment from Kraftin' Kimmie & ribbon by Amuse (new colours are in the store!). Ooooh- I also discovered that a pretty pad of paper by K & Co. we had in the store is the *exact* colours for this paper collection, so the green layer you see is all pretty and shimmery-yum!
This cutie was created by Tanya- as you can see, we both have the same fave. paper from this collection LOL. I love the elegant colour scheme here and wintery details. Tanya will have all the deets up on her blog later this week- but don't wait until then to visit her there, she'll be sharing exciting news tomorrow!
This sweet shaker card was created by Chris! I love the giant snowflake and the pretty mix of colours- shakers are always so much fun!
Cheri made this amazing creation... it is a 'bonus' card as it didn't fit on the sample board- mostly because you have to be able to open this card to appreciate how fab it really is! She's mounted the image on the inside of the card behind this layered window- so cool! This card is a glittery masterpiece :)
Here's another 'bonus' card from Carla- obviously she's having fun with this image because she made us TWO cards with the SOTM! I can't wait to see what else she does with it!
Here's the card Carla made that you'll find on our sample board- so many fabulous details on this one! I love that she used that funky plastic ribbon my Maya Road- hopefully she'll tell us how she attached it on her blog :) It's perfect with these papers, can't believe I didn't notice that before!
Wasn't that a fabulous bit of inspiration for ya? We're so blessed to have such a talented Seriously Creative Design Team! Be sure to visit them all and tell them so (but feel free to share some love here, too)!
