Join Tara and create 3 or more spring cards ready to send to your favourite peeps! Using neutral shades of kraft, brown & white with a burst cheerful yellow, we'll make a card set that is sure to bring a smile! Come and see how easy it is to make them all work together with stamps and die cuts for some springtime cheer! These would also make great Easter or birthday cards!

Basic Grey POTM samples

We had a great time last night at our first class in this year long 'Page of the Month' series from Basic Grey! I promised everyone I'd post the samples online, so here they are.

First up is the sample layout from Basic Grey:
and here's a lousy photo of my variation of it...

As you can see, I went for flowers (assorted dies from QK) instead of stars but beyond that, I pretty much stuck to the instructions... much to my chagrin- honestly, I *never* follow instructions that closely, but as I see them side by side I'm amazed at how even my photos are angled the same way. Crazy!

As a bonus in our classes here, we'll be doing a card I design using the scraps from our kit. I made a point to use only scraps (no cutting into unused whole sheets of paper!) and I really like how this turned out! I added crackle accents to the die cut tag and the flower (cut from one of the papers) and I had fun distressing the paper for my crinkle pleated strip. Crinkle pleated. I just like saying that... fab terminology I made up, eh?
And that's what we made! It's great to see how peoples projects were turning out with different photos added and all that... now we're looking forward to using the Kioshi line at our April class about a month from now (does April 21 work for everyone?).

Thanks for looking!

peeks

I apologize because the photo quality here is pretty terrible... I didn't even tidy up shelves before snapping as many photos of new stuff I could get before my camera died (I should probably put new batteries in it!) but here's a little sampling of new stuff...

Stamps from Stampendous (and storage solutions!) and Pink Cat Studio are also here, but the glare from the lights prevented me from getting them in my quick photo session ;)

Here's some of the gorgeous LUSH collection by My Minds Eye (yummy flocking on several of the papers!)
A few new Prima flowers...
BoBunny is in the house! Here's some of the accessories for Jazmyne:
and here's the Jazmyne papers- gorgeous and glittery!
The fabulous Mama-razzi collection.... LOVE it! (I'm working on a sample for a fun mini book class with this line!)
... and that's all I could catch before the red light started flashing at me! You'll have to stop by the store to see the rest of the goodness!

Speaking of our Design Team...

... someone really ought to slap my hand for this! After my last post, I clicked the little 'design team' tag at the bottom of the post and noticed that I completely neglected to introduce a member of our Design Team when she joined us last November (I know- horrible, right?!)!

Soo... please take a moment right now to see a few items created by the talented CHERI!
I haven't seen it in person yet (I stole these photos from Cheri's blog... I'm really not doing much to redeem myself here, am I?) but this layout has me in AWE... go ahead and count the photos on this 12x24" masterpiece... didja do it? 22 freaking photos on one layout, yet it's crisp and clean and colour coordinated! It rocks, if I may say so. I'm hoping (ahem) that it'll grace the walls of our store very soon.

Now this here card will never be on display in the store, as Cheri made it to give away to a friend... but isn't it fabulous? I love this watery shaker card and Changito looks adorable, as usual. You can read the specifics on Cheri's blog.
The next two projects can be seen in the store, and this fabulous Diary of Scrapbooking Essentials is actually an upcoming class Cheri will be teaching for us. Watch for a specific date (early April) to be posted on a class list (and in the store) soon. I love this project!
Cheri and I share a love of coffee... and a coffee stamp collection and this canvas piece of art is an awesome showcase for Cheri's collection! When you check out this project, you'll also notice that Cheri is an amazing artist- her skills with copic markers are mind blowing and it's a pleasure just to watch her create, seriously!
Cheri has a background in art and we're also looking forward to scheduling a class with her all about shading... which will be perfect for everyone using Copic Markers, as well as those of you using other coloring mediums.

I hope this gives you a taste of how lucky we are to have Cheri as part of our Seriously Creative Design Team! We're always looking forward to seeing what she'll bring us next. Welcome to the team, Cheri... know that we're happy to have ya, even if I'm four months late with my intro!

Changes

Life often feels like it's just a series of changes... this week is no exception!

We're sorry to announce that we'll be saying 'goodbye' to a member of our design team, Eulanda. We knew this day would come eventually when Eulanda moved away from Williams Lake, but we've absolutely loved having her as a part of our team and we know you all have enjoyed her gorgeous samples on display in the store! Eulanda is of course, always welcome to share her creations with us and you can still find a link to her blog on the 'places to go' section in our sidebar!

Thanks for the inspiration, Eulanda! We can't wait to see where your talents will take you in the future!

There is some good news too, however... we're also introducing a new member to our design team! Beatrix has been a customer of Creative Accents ever since we started sharing space with Memory Lane in a tiny hole in the wall shop in Delaney's... how many of you can remember those days? Not too many, I'm guessing! She's been making cards & stamping for about 13 years!

Beatrix is a lady of many talents (you may have seen her at the Medieval Market in years past- selling scarves, purses, quilts, handmade books & soap) with a style that might be described as Shabby Chic. Her projects are colourful and often inspired by nature and she loves using Basic Grey products. Cards by Beatrix often feature many intricate details like stitches and bits of stamping.

Welcome to our design team, Beatrix! Here's a few of her recent cards- enjoy! I've got a few more to photograph, so I'll hopefully add them here next week!

Beatrix does not have a blog, as she lives west of town, where the dial-up is painfully slow... you'll have to watch for her projects to be posted here :)

Silhouette Rhinestones!

Last weekend Tanya & I pulled out our Silhouette Rhinestone Starter Kits and downloaded a bunch of fabulous templates at the Silhouette online store and we got busy blinging up some t-shirts for Tanya's girls. She posted the shirts she created on her blog- check them out here and see how cute they are!

A few days ago I picked up a red t-shirt for a friend of mine traveling to Europe over Spring Break (and enjoying her birthday while she's in Greece... lucky girl!) and I decided to make her something to show her Canadian pride while she's there :)

Now, there isn't a Rhinestone template for a maple leaf, but I had a clever moment (ha!) and figured out that if I opened a maple leaf shape design along side another rhinestone template I could 'trace' the maple leaf with parts of the rhinestone template (the templates are a series of tiny circles). I also spelled out "I am Canadian" using the script alphabet available in the Silhouette online store. I love how it turned out! It's about 6" wide and looks fabulous across the front of her t-shirt!
Another friend of mine is also going on this Europe trip, and she celebrated her birthday yesterday... so I picked up a simple grey t-shirt (hooray for 4.99 racks!) and added the same maple leaf to it, this time in fabulous RED rhinestones! Simple & cute... I'm gonna need one for me before Canada Day!

Mom picked up this cute little kids dress for $3 this week so we could make a sample for the store (since we keep giving away all the rhinestone stuff we're making!). Silhouette has quite a few designs sized specially for kids & babies so we chose this sweet elephant design. Isn't the one blue stone a nice touch for the eye?

And yes... I had to do something for ME! I picked up this t-shirt at Walmart and thought it'd be perfect since it has a fun mixture of buttons on it... including rhinestones ones :) Since it's a v-neck, I thought it'd be pretty with a flourish coming off the shoulder. Fun, eh?

And lastly... we needed to step out of the box a bit and try adding rhinestones to a canvas album cover! I'm crazy about this little bird- doesn't it look sweet on an 8x8 album (green rhinestones on a sage green album)? Imagine the possibilities!

Hope you enjoyed a look at what we've been doing with our Silhouette lately!

The Silhouette Rhinestone Starter kit is available NOW in the store for just $35. If you couldn't tell... it's a lot of fun!

You can pick up a Silhouette at the store for $349. While quantities last, we've got a great gift bundle of Silhouette accessories (worth about $75) you can get FREE with your purchase!

March 2010 SOTM

Introducing our Stamp of the Month for March- a gorgeous vintage "Papillion Post Card" image by Magenta. This cling mounted stamp will be a beautiful addition to your stamp collection that is especially versatile this time of the year!
The amazing Magenta artists created this first card, which is simply stamped in brown on patterned paper and coloured lightly with pencil crayons.

Tanya pulled out her Ranger Alcohol inks for this lovely card! The bottom butterfly is covered it crackle accents and mounted on 3D foam squares. I love the vintage looking lace at the bottom of the card, it adds some great texture!
I think this next card is my favorite! I love how cutting the image out in a circle, as Tanya has done here, really adds a twist to this image! Check out the background here- it's those amazing "Glazed" Bazzill Cardstock sheets! Don't they resist the distress ink beautifully? Love it!
This final card is my contribution. I played around and created a fabulous background paper with distress inks... then covered it up with Glitter Ritz. A bit of a waste of my background paper, but you can still see the texture through it I guess! This card is an off-center gate fold, which I sized to fit my image. The 3D butterfly was colored with Distress Inks then I added Distress Stickles to the outer edges and covered it in DG3 (aka Diamond Glaze or Glossy Accents). I inserted metallic thread into the glaze for the antenna and placed a bit of bling in the glaze while it was still wet. My flowers have been "smooched" with new Smooch Spray and the sentiment is from Hero Arts.
Hope you enjoyed the cards and will have fun playing with your new stamps! We'd love to see what you make with it!
