Burlap beauties!

I had good intentions of creating a version of Tim Holtz's December tag this week... Pulled out my burlap and got distracted by the texture :). I started with these die cut shapes and ended up going a different direction. You can check out some of the projects I made over at the Scrap 'n Stamp blog!
Here's another peek...

Christmas art journaling...

hey!  So I just wanted to share one of the 'pages' I created while doing a fun art journaling workshop online (more about that later!) using the new holiday birds by Dina Wakely :)
I've really been loving this stamp and stencil set, it's super cute and a great value!  You can see more details about my page on the Scrap N Stamp blog where I've been blogging every week- I'd love to see you visit me there!

Here's some more pics... enjoy!

Have a great day!

It's a Prima Day today and I'll be celebrating with a FREE make & take project at Betty's Creative Studio in Greensboro TODAY from 2-5pm!  Here's a peek at what we will be making... I'll share more photos after!  I'd love to see you there!

Twinkle Twinkle!

I've got a simple tutorial over at Scrap 'n Stamp Canada's blog for a twinkly card... go check it out!

Hope you're having a fantastic day!

Happy 60th Daddy!

My dad turned 60 last month!  It's a year of big birthdays for my family this year... can't exactly say I'm looking forward to mine, but it's fun to celebrate other peoples!  Here's the card I sent him.  You can see a bit more about it on Scrap 'n Stamp Canada's blog :)

Blue Christmas in July

I made a Christmas card this week... Something I always plan to do but never really get around to!  It's simple but features awesome shades of blue and fabulous textures... As well as one of the Tim Holtz charms I bought to use last year (but never did) and some fab new twine from my Prima demo kit!

You can check out all the details and some close up pics on the Scrap & Stamp blog as it's featured as today's Tuesday with Tara post!

A new card!

Just a quick note to share a card I made using paints and stamps by Dina Wakley :)  You can find more details on the Stamp N Scrap blog, where I'll be posting every Tuesday!  Hopefully it'll get me posting more often on this blog too... cuz it sure has been slim pickins over here!  I am excited to be teaming up with Raya from I'm Impressed (on Granville Island in BC) to share on their new blog this year!

Other news... that tag I shared that was inspired by Tim Holtz's June Tag was picked as one of their winners!  YAY!  My prize was a GC, which I used to pick up a few of the new 2015 Distress products I didn't have yet (which is most of it... but I do have all the ink pads so far! Love the new colors!).

a June tag

I love the tag Tim Holtz created for June... the coffee dies he used are definitely on my wish list!  I didn't have any of the products he used, but I decided I could improvise- starting with changing the focal point from a take out coffee cup to a pair of cute mugs/tea cups.  My mom sent me an envelope packed full of these die cuts that she cut from a variety of papers & materials, so I set to inking them up for this project :)  I sorta followed the techniques on Tim's tag (though I couldn't make a plaid background with the stencil I used!) and here's what I came up with... a much more feminine version of the tag, I suppose!  It also majors on some of the new Distress Colors for 2015... since they seem to be what I reach for lately on the rare occasions I actually make something!

Bad Blogger/ Prima Dolls Demo

I've been a very bad blogger lately.  I'm sorry if you've visited and found nothing even remotely new... the truth is I am still alive and well, and I'm even in the process of getting my creative groove back, I just have been really lousy at even coming up with a monthly update!

I'd like to change that... so please hang in there with me!  I'm gonna start today with a bit of a trip back in time to early February (yep, before my last post!) when I had my fist demo as a Prima Ambassador at Betty's Creative Studio in Greensboro, NC :)

Here's some of the lovely ladies who made one of the fun jumbo tag cards featuring Prima Doll stamps:

and here's a close up of the cards I designed:

I had a great time at my first demo- the customers and staff at Betty's are fabulous and fun.  Everyone loved learning some simple paper piecing and coloring together with learning to create a cute card from a jumbo tag!  A highlight for me was using the first of the new Distress Ink colors for 2015 on this tag- you'll see it in the green stenciling on the 'party girl' tag above :)  Cracked Pistachio was a color that I had been needing for several months, trying to combine and mix paints and inks to get it just right to match all the new papers... it's a fabulous color, and might still be my fave this year so far!  (though I have a couple new pads just waiting to get on some projects... so I'll keep you posted!)

Thanks for the patience with this Bad Blogger.  Feel free to comment/email/message me if I'm slacking off again... I'm going to attempt at least weekly posts for the next while as I get caught up and find the rest of my mojo :)

I only have eyes for you...

I was thrilled to get my hands on some of the new Distress products last month- Cracked Pistachio was a color I had been waiting for (seriously, I was mixing and blending trying to recreate it before it was released!) and I couldn't resist picking up the Bird Crazy stamp set that Tim Holtz released... It just made me smile, and sometimes that is reason enough for a purchase!

Anyways, I had these new products in hand and Valentine's Day was just around the corner... So I created this card for my husband. Hope it makes you smile too!
Here's a close up to show some of the fun textures I used on it:
The words were stamped with an old Hero Arts alphabet stamp set. Those crazy eyes were highlighted with a wink of Stella marker & glossy accents. Paper is by We R Memory Keepers.

Lots of fun & lots of love on one little project...

Party Girl Joy!

Today is a very big day... one of those days that I hate to be so very far away!  My sister Joy is turning THIRTY, and I'm so happy to see that she is getting spoiled by so many who love her. I can't wait until I'm with her again so I can spoil her too (though this card I made her should be there... as well as a gift I ordered her.  Chances are, both will be late and the celebration will have to continue a little longer!)

The card is a simple one, featuring some Prima goodies!  Hope it makes her smile!

Here's a pic I don't think I've shared anywhere yet, of Joy & I on my wedding day.  Love that girl!  Didn't she look stunning?  Happy birthday my beautiful sister (and birthday wishes from Brian to his beautiful sister in law, too!).  I'm looking forward to FaceTime tonight to hear all about the celebration today!
