History & Bio

Hi!  I'm Tara and I've been teaching classes in the paper crafting industry for 15 years in Western Canada.  I closed my rubber stamp & scrapbook store last year to get married & move to North Carolina, but my passion is still getting inky and sharing the love of this hobby wherever I can!  I started out as a card maker, but over the years I have done it all- from cards & mini books, to scrapbooking & mixed media projects. I'm certified by both Ranger & Copic and I look forward to getting inky with you in one of my classes soon!

This blog was started as a place of inspiration for customers of Creative Accents, where you can see samples of some of the many products we carried as well as Tara's projects over the years.  Since it's mostly my stuff, I've decided to keep the address and make the shift to a more personal blog!  I hope you'll find inspiration here!

Creative Accents began as a tiny, home-based rubber stamp store in the summer of 1999.  After many small steps (or big leaps of faith, depending on how you look at it!), we've become a a full service LSS (local scrapbook/stamp store) offering a wide range of amazing products and classes.

In 2005, when an opportunity came to expand the scrapbooking side of the store, we became a mother-daughter partnership with Julie (mom) joining Tara (daughter) in the business.  We were constantly on the look out for new products and services to offer our amazing customers.  You'll see links to many of the amazing companies whose products we carry in the side bar ("places to go").

In 2013 we decided it was time to make a change and close the store.  Our doors closed at the end of June, giving us a short month to wrap things up and finish details for Tara's wedding on August 3!  Julie is still in BC, continuing to meet with friends and customers to create Tim Holtz's 12 Tag.  Tara is a newlywed in the Southern United States- setting up a new creative studio in her home and looking for opportunities & friends to get inky with!  If you own a shop, or know of one here that would be interested in hosting one of my classes, please feel free to let me know!
